Wonder Woman 1984 Spiritual Movie Review, release the desire for More!

Wonder Woman 1984 Spiritual Movie Review, release the desire for More!Wonder Women 1984 is probably one of the best spiritual awakening movies that directly demonstrates the “desire for more” of the Ego thought system while also showing the solution that is given by Jesus in A Course in Miracles: the power, speed and simplicity of choosing to release the “desire for more” from the mind through forgiveness. The desire or wish for more is the same as the desire for an experience of weakness and powerlessness. Diana Prince as Wonder Woman is a very clear example of taking full responsibility for the mind by accepting the correction. This is what Jesus means when he says, “Choose again.”

The ego’s thought system is a wish (desire) for an experience to be more than God– the idea that it is possible to be more than All that Is. This is the dream of separation in which characters seem to search in an endless loops for peace and happiness through the wish (desire) to get “more” in the dream. At the beginning of the movie, one of the main characters, Max Lord, says, “Life is good, but it could be better. Think about everything you always wanted.” The ego answers, “Why not have more?” This is the tiny mad idea that blooms out a world of hatred and fear. What need has the Son of God for “more” when God has given him everything?

Wonder Woman 1984 Spiritual Movie Review, release the desire for More!Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) is working at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. It has been about 70 years in her “timeline” since the first Wonder Woman movie where she met and “fell in love” with Trevor (played by Chris Pine) during World War I. Trevor died at the end of the first movie, and in her heart, below the level of her awareness, Diana “wishes” to have him back. The ego is an attempt to convince us that figures in the dream can fill the feeling of lack or loss, yet it must be seen that this is a trick. This is merely the reflection of the power of the mind to make “wishes” (miscreation) seem to come true and with this wish “Trevor” mysteriously appears in Wonder Woman 1984. Since this wish is a form of “wanting more” it is an unhealed grievance that must be seen through and released in order for full acceptance of the Love of God that is here now.

This powerful movie demonstrates the havoc wrought through wishes–desires–for a dream of trying to get more, which is the same as asking for an experience to be bereft in time from the Love of God. And in the fulfillment of this desire “for more” and the resulting appearance of Trevor, Diana believes she has found happiness and love. Yet as she looks more deeply Diana realizes that since Trevor “reappeared” she is weak and seems to be unable to fully fulfill her function. At first she is not willing to admit it, yet over time with the help of the Holy Spirit she begins to recognize that she is avoiding a deeper looking to see what is true and releasing the “death wish” to a miracle.

Wonder Woman 1984 Spiritual Movie Review, release the desire for More!

In most DC comic strip movies we see the hero/heroine of the dream fighting what seems to be an outer enemy. This movie is refreshingly different as it points to the power of looking inward to make another choice. At first Diana attempts to fight the other characters to save the world. Finally she recognizes that she is responsible for her mind, and must admit that it is impossible to clear the mind of chaos and attack thoughts as long as the “wish for more” is held in the mind. Ultimately Diana discovers that she can not “fight” something outside of herself, she must go within to release the wish for something “more”– she must release through forgiveness the desire for the mis-creation of a dream figure to attempt to compensate for the seeming “loss” of Steve (and illusion of loss of love) from the mind.

Diana sees that in “rescinding” or “taking back” her wish she is then able to extend the love that she is and can be in service by calling others to join her in the Light of Truth. All can celebrate as many join her in recognizing the only way out of death and chaos is to “take back” the death wish for “more”.

And in releasing this wish (desired experience for loss), all strength returns to the Son of God. Diana discovers that she can fly, a symbol of accepting her true function in full service to the whole. Once we accept the correction the symbols in form reflect the change of mind, and Diana sees that many will follow her lead and give back the wish for “more”. In answering the call to give back the wish, Max Lord discovers that wanting more was merely an attempt to compensate for the desired experience of feeling less, and that the ultimate solution of giving back the wish leads to the recognition that Love has been here all along.

This movie “takes it all the way!” As Wonder Woman says in the trailer, “Braveness is not what you think.” Braveness is facing the desire for more and releasing it to miracles.

T

he Most Reluctant Convert is an outstanding movie for anyone in devotion to spiritual awakening. Watching movies for Spiritual Awakening is a powerful means for recognizing the plays in consciousness that deny Divinity and to release those denials to admit true Identity is Love. (Click here to download the Guide to Watching movies for Spiritual Awakening.) It is a film adaptation of the CS Lewis semi autobiographical book, Surprised by Joy (on Amazon). The film is, for the most part, a soliloquy delivered artfully by the film’s main character, CS “Jack” Lewis (Max McClean), intermixed with flashbacks of the events of his younger years that lead to his admission that God is all there is. If you would like to watch the movie it can be streamed here.

CS Lewis is famous for writing The Chronicles of Narnia. The movie is steeped in his mastery of the English language and thus ability to simply and eloquently express profound mystical revelations.

The hardness of God is kinder than the softness of men, and His compulsion is our liberation.

~ C.S. Lewis

Why is The Most Reluctant Convert such a powerful spiritual awakening movie?

The Most Reluctant Convert is a powerful spiritual awakening movie because of its accurate depiction of the simplicity of awakening when there is conviction to know the truth. Much of the movie’s power lies in the stunning beauty of Lewis’ description of his conversion from atheist, through theism to recognition of Christ in himself and his brothers.

Along the spiritual “path” a seeker may experience conflict and many doubt thoughts may arise about whether the ultimate “goal of knowing God” is possible.” C.S. Lewis eloquently shares his “theories” and doubt thoughts about God and the world as they evolved and how ultimately his perspective resolved to a joyful conclusion.

“In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England. I did not then see what is now the most shining and obvious thing; the Divine humility which will accept a convert even on such terms.”

The most reluctant convert movie review CS Lewis as a boyThe movie beautifully depicts his openness and willingnessto have his concepts of God and the world completely reinterpreted by the Spirit, and ultimately to see the truth of the presence of Love. In Spiritual Awakening the desire to know the truth must be held to be of greater value than maintaining the concepts of delusion.

It is no mistake that Lewis called his book, Surprised by Joy. The world is a denial of joy as our natural inheritance. The recognition that that joy/supreme happiness is our only function in this world is the result of ceasing to deny Divinity. C.S Lewis accepted that there is no other purpose for the world other than union with God and thus the full transcendence of all pain and suffering to the natural state of joy.

Some say Lewis’ definition of joy was “the longing for God” and in the movie the recognition of Joy is somewhat understated in the conversion. Yet Lewis’ understanding goes far beyond longing. Lewis describes what he discovered clearly in this quote:

“I doubt whether anyone who has tasted [Joy] would ever, if both were in his power, exchange it for all the pleasures in the world. But then Joy is never in our power and Pleasure often is.”

~ C.S. Lewis

This statement captures the essence of the transcendence of personal identity. It is well worth contemplation, as is the rest of this movie. The experience of pleasure is the confusion that some happiness can be found through the “getting mechanism” of personal identity. Yet pleasure is the same as pain. Both are denials of true Joy, which is true Identity.

There is no more profound recognition in awakening than seeing that salvation comes through how we choose to see our brothers. This is a small snippet from Lewis’ closing remarks in the movie that demonstrate his profound realization in this regard:

“As I looked around…I thought not only of my own potential glory hereafter but also of my neighbor’s glory…that if you saw it now you would be strongly tempted to fall down in worship…”

~ C.S. Lewis

In seeing God in our brother we can testify as Lewis did:

“Like a man after a long sleep becomes aware he is now awake.”

~ C.S. Lewis

CS Lews meets with mighty companions to explore what is true. This is true joining

CS Lews meets with mighty companions to explore what is true. This is true joining.

The natural state of Spiritual Awakening (peace of mind/joy) will not be a consistent experience as long as there are hidden subconscious desires for pain and suffering. The ego claims there is only pain yet since it relishes pain when carefully examined it can be seen that the ego derives pleasure in pain! The movie depicts a number of subconscious desires that must be released in order for a consistent experience of peace.

A good example of a desire that needed to be healed is the death of C.S. Lewis’ mother early in the movie. The feeling of loss associated with death is a hidden desire for the experience of abandonment. It may seem in form to be about the death of a mother or a father, yet the ego hides this in the desire for the experience of loss/death of the awareness of our true Father, inner Light, from the mind. As the admission comes that there can never be loss and death is impossible, then the idea of loss is recognized as impossible.

More hidden desires depicted in the movie are listed below:

  • Desire for an experience of feeling mad at God for “not existing”.  This is the same as the belief that you are without “Source”  Relishing the experience of accusing God of not existing.

  • Desire for the experience that my brother (someone outside of myself) can steal heaven from me.

  • Desire for the experience of feeling abandoned. Relishing the experience of abandonment.

  • Desire for the experience of using logic, reason and intellect to deny the existence of God/Love.
  • Desire  for an experience of valuing pleasure over the natural state of Joy.
  • Desire for the experience in which the correction (acceptance of a miracle) and thus the miracles and the atonement takes time.
  • Desire for an experience of feeling “God does not hear/answer my prayers”
  • Desire for an experience of attempting to find salvation through the intellect.

Matrix Resurrections Spiritual Awakening Review – 5 Stars

Matrix Resurrections Spiritual Awakening Review 5 Stars

T

he newly released The Matrix Resurrections is a spectacular Spiritual Awakening Movie. And in some ways it is even more compelling than the first three movies in terms of what it delivers for Spiritual Awakening. It is a powerful reminder that it is necessary to be decisive in saying no to the ego. In this blog post and in the video above we outline the key reasons this movie is so powerful for Spiritual Awakening. This blog offers a Spiritual Psychotherapy perspective on transcending personal identity.

There are two videos. Watch the video above before the movie and part 2 (below) after the movie.

Some critics may feel this movie is not as cinematically powerful as the first three movies. However, the message in this movie for Spiritual Awakening should not be missed:

The addiction to the hidden desire for the experience of the Matrix (consciousness/the ego) should not be underestimated.

The four movies together serve as a profound metaphor for the evolution of consciousness from fragmented ego orientation (subconscious desire for the experience of the Matrix) to transcending the Matrix (unification of Consciousness and Spiritual Awakening).

This is full release of all desires for pain and suffering hidden in the subconscious mind. For a brief video overview of the mis-creation of fragmented consciousness, click here.

(Download the Guide to Spiritual Awakening Stages)

The Matrix Resurrections storyline begins 60 years after Matrix Revolutions (Matrix III) ends. Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) is living a mundane life. In this iteration (of Matrix) he is an expert (and unhappy) game developer who is having difficulty determining what is real and unreal. He asks his therapist whether he is crazy.

His gaming design specialty is making computer games about the Matrix. He wonders where these design ideas are coming from. Are they arising out of memories or dreams? Strange signs and symbols keep showing up, bidding him to look more deeply.

It seems as though there are more blue pills present than ever. So the question comes again, does he want to know what the truth is about the Matrix? Will he take the red pill (the symbol of wanting to know the truth)?

The truth is that many of those on the Spiritual Awakening Journey question whether they are going insane! It is helpful to realize that in order for the ego to exist it must make the natural state of being (sustained happiness) seem difficult to attain, alien and fearful. This is why it is helpful to join with others devoted to truth to see through the illusion.

(Watch part two of the commentary below. Note: This is an even more in depth review with spoilers.)

The Matrix movies, including Matrix Resurrections, continue to be among the best Movies for Spiritual Awakening.

It is wonderful to find that Matrix Resurrections is no exception!

Click here to download the Guide to Watching Movies for Spiritual Awakening.

The original Matrix trilogy is one of the most deeply contemplated series of Movies for Spiritual Awakening ever created. The red pill-blue pill choice scenario is a great analogy for the decision to know the truth (take the red pill) or choosing to deny the truth (take the blue pill and keep “dreaming in the Matrix”). In ultimately Reality there is no choice, as Morpheus says, “choice is an illusion.” There is no choice to be Light.
Matrix Resurrections Spiritual Awakening Review - 5 Stars
Yet in the delusion (the ego is the choice to be deluded about reality), choosing the red pill is a symbol of the willingness to see the truth and thus no longer invest in delusion. The choice to refuse to be deluded is essential for Spiritual Awakening. The Matrix movies are clearly among the best Movies for Spiritual Awakening and Resurrections continues the tradition.

In Spiritual Awakening it is necessary to choose to admit the truth (of Spiritual Identity) and thus cease to deny it (symbolically take the red pill). This dual choice scenario also demonstrates that there is also a decision/choice to stay in the illusion of the Matrix (symbolized by a blue pill). Thus the illusional “choice” of the red pill is actually a movement into the falling away of concept of choice!

Matrix Resurrections is a powerful demonstration of how much consciousness prefers dreaming over waking up.

We can’t see it. But we’re all trapped inside these strange repeating loops.

~ Morpheus, Matrix Resurrections.

The Matrix represents the dream of separation, pain and suffering. The red pill-blue pill choice is identical to what Adam and Eve experienced in the garden of Eden. The decision to bite the apple is the same as the decision in the Matrix to keep eating blue pills to deny the truth. When the choice is made to bite the apple (take blue pill), it is a direct path to dreamland of suffering in the Matrix.

Matrix Resurrections Spiritual Awakening Review - 5 Stars

Adam and Eve took the blue pill (bit the apple) to experience something other than “Eden”. This is the desire for a “dream” of being cast out of heaven into the Matrix world of pain and suffering. This is the desire for the experience of false perception that “the devil made me do it.” And then “God punished me.”

As soon as there is a devil there are two—duality. Biting the apple/take the blue pill is the desire for the experience of duality. This is the birth of death experience through desire; the hidden desire for the experience of “good and evil”.

It is the genesis of the subconscious addiction to guilt and shame. Genesis happens over and over every time the red pill (truth) is denied. It is the choice to keep the desires for the experience of the Matrix buried deep in the subconscious mind. This is the source of all pain, suffering, and illness.

Why is Matrix Resurrection a powerful spiritual awakening movie?

Didn’t Neo completely awaken in Matrix Revolutions? Neo found the truth about who is responsible for the Matrix, didn’t he?

The answer is no. Neo had a tremendous amount of practice saying “no to the ego” by refusing to give the ego (the Matrix) power over him in the first three (3) movies. He also recognized that the Matrix was not real. Yet, when carefully reviewed, the end of Matrix 3 seems almost anti-climatic.

Something is missing. Neo’s body died before fully admitting the truth about the source of the Matrix. The timing of his death is a great symbol that demonstrates exactly how the ego operates. The ego would rather die (hide truth from awareness and keep dreaming more) than fully see the truth. The truth is that the Matrix (Consciousness) is made up and does not exist at all. The ego’s only plan is death with the promise that peace and safety can be found after death of a body. This is a desire hidden below the level of awareness to keep the illusion going.

Even when the red pill is chosen there can seem to be tremendous disorientation and upheaval. As soon as Neo (the spiritual seeker) starts looking for the truth (looking at denials of truth in the subconscious mind) it appears that hell is breaking loose.

The key to awakening is to be determined to see the truth (to looking to see where Light is denied in the subconscious mind), no matter what the ego dishes out, and this movie powerfully demonstrates the many delays and pullbacks in the spiritual journey. Yet we can choose again for truth.

It also demonstrates that it is impossible to “do it alone”. Help, support and encouragement is needed, and in this movie it comes in spades by many willing to step into truth together. This is the power of joining with the purpose to see the truth.

Matrix Resurrections the power of Joining in Purpose to see the truth.

The difference in this movie from prior movies is that both Neo and Trinity more fully commit to truth at a whole new level. Commitment to truth (do whatever it takes to see the truth) is everything in a path to Enlightenment, since the ego is commitment to self-delusion.

The key to Spiritual Awakening is to see (and admit) who is responsible for the Matrix. This is why Buddha laughed, because he saw who was responsible for the Matrix. When it is fully seen and admitted, it IS funny. Before that point, the experience of the Matrix and transcending the Matrix does not seem funny at all.

The Matrix trilogy uses the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland as the symbol for following the Light within to find truth. This wisdom of the inner Light/Holy Spirit/Jesus provides guidance for quickly transcending the illusion time and space.

The new character “Bugs”(short for Bugs Bunny) is well worth watching. She is a great symbol of commitment and purpose to know the truth. Bugs is the most consistent character throughout the movie in the desire to know truth because she makes no compromises. She consistently follows inner Light without exception and without concern for “consequences.” The ego’s threat is always that there will be consequences for following inner Light (the white rabbit). This ego threat arises from the illusion that there is sacrifice in awakening to truth.

The matrix (consciousness) arises from the choice to experience it. There is only One, thus there is no one “outside” who creates the Matrix. Yet Neo has not yet admitted that there is no one “out there” responsible for the Matrix of self delusion. And until Neo (and any spiritual seeker) admits who is responsible for the Matrix, he/she is affiliated with the dream of duality.

Matrix Resurrections Spiritual Awakening Review (continued)

This is a spectacular Spiritual Awakening quote from Matrix Resurrections.

You and her. Quietly yearning for what you don’t have while dreading loosing what you do. For 99.9% of your race, that is your definition of reality. Desire and fear, baby. Just give the people what they want, right?

~ Matrix Resurrections.

Matrix Resurrections is full of these priceless gems for those devoted to truth.

Consciousness is the Matrix, a looping matrix of pictures, thoughts, feelings and emotions that seem real. The ego is the desire for the experience that something is happening to a “me that is beyond my control”. Thus consciousness makes images and experiences (the Matrix) seem real.

This is the same as the desire for the experience that “something outside of myself is causing the matrix experience and “I am helpless” to what is occurring “outside of myself” in the Matrix. The Matrix appears because it is an an expression of looping subconscious desires–the wish for something other than truth.

The trick of the ego is wishing and wanting the experience that “something is out there”. The self delusion is to hide these desires deep in the caverns of the subconscious mind. This is the desire to forget the truth!

This results in endless looping of trying to find salvation within the loop (illusion). This trick must be seen through in order to fully transcend the Matrix. Specifically, it must be seen and admitted that there is no one or no thing “outside” that causes anything else.
Matrix movies - symbols of the choice to see the truth

There is no one to blame. The idea that there is someone to blame is a trick of the mind. It is an immediate experience of duality because it is the desire for the experience of two. Through the release of subconscious desires for the experience of the Matrix it can be seen that the experience of the Matrix arises out of the choice to experience the Matrix (choosing to eat blue pills)!

There is no one to blame. The idea that there is someone to blame is a trick of the mind.

It is an immediate experience of duality because it is the desire for the experience of two.

The state of Choiceless Awareness is complete transcendence of the ego thought system. In A Course in Miracles this is called the Happy Dream. Everything else, without exception, is some form of denial of Ultimate Reality.

Click here to download a Guide to Stages of Spiritual Awakening.

Oneness can easily be recognized as reality (awakening experience). However, it can not be experienced fully as a consistent state of peace and joy (abiding Spiritual Awakening) until all concepts (desires) that make it seem there is an “other outside creating the Matrix” are released from the subconscious mind. In A Course in Miracles the release of hidden desires that deny Spiritual Awakening is called a miracle.

Matrix Resurrections is a powerful demonstration that, no matter how “awake” the spiritual seeker (the seeker of truth) is (even Neo and Trinity), there is a strong addiction to (desire for) the experience of dreaming (consciousness). The Matrix (Ego) is designed to be cunning and perceived to be almost impossible to transcend. Thus, for the spiritual seeker there is the need for “vigilance for God and His Kingdom” as described in A Course in Miracles.

What is the meaning of Resurrections in Matrix Resurrections?

Neo seems to resurrect as a body, but resurrection is not of the body. Resurrection is of the mind. It is transcendence of an idea that the body is real to see that death is unreal. Since the addiction to the Matrix experience (consciousness) is strong (the desire for dreaming) Neo discovers that although he chose the red pill once before, he must choose it again. This demonstrates that it is essential to keep saying “no” to the ego by saying yes to truth in order to fully transcend personal identity.

It is possible to take the “red pill” (to say yes to know the truth) in the moment. Yet the red pill may need to be taken many times. All deeply hidden desires (desires for blue pill experiences) to keep the Matrix (fragmented consciousness) must be released, in order for the experience of the concept of a Matrix to completely collapse.

The power of choosing the red pill is clear. Neo accepts his assignment to see the truth more fully than ever before. He needed to overcome his concepts about what it means to be “the One” and release desires to re-experience the Matrix. Trinity steps into function and is no longer “dependent on Neo”, rather, she fully accepts that she must choose the red pill–choose for truth–and that it is her function to find the truth within herself. This is accepting that her true power does not depend on Neo or another (a savior outside).

Matrix Resurrections the power of Neo Trinity Joining for transcending ego

Once Trinity accepts her power to choose she and Neo join together fully in purpose to see the truth. Thus Trinity and Neo demonstrate the true power comes from Joining to see what is true (and release the desire to keep what is false). Together they demonstrate that Joining is the perfect means to transcend the Matrix.

If abiding awakening is the goal, the seeker ultimately has the responsibility to continually choose the red pill (the truth) and refuse the blue pill (the ego). This responsibility means looking deeply in the subconscious mind to release hidden desires for the blue pill experience. The ego secretly relishes blue pill experiences.

Further, it is essential to choose the red pill by following guidance (following the white rabbit, just as Neo does), which is choosing only red pill experiences that will lead quickly to spiritual awakening. The ego will always claim that there will be some sort of sacrifice in seeking truth. The ego is a machine of distraction from admitting the truth. It will generate all kinds of forms and figures in the world that will distract from focusing on spiritual awakening. This is demonstrated perfectly by Trinity in the movie when she choses truth over dream figures and the idea of loss and sacrifice.

Matrix Resurrections continues the matrix metaphor for the Spiritual Awakening Journey.

Matrix Resurrections is an excellent metaphor for what occurs on the spiritual awakening path. In A Course in Miracles Jesus says you cannot tell your advances from your retreats.

Even when you think that you have transcended the ego (awakened), there may be a lot more hidden denials of truth that must be revealed (released to Light), as is the case for Neo and Trinity in Matrix Resurrections. There may be many “Spiritual Awakening experiences” (recognition of the One that is beyond the Matrix).

However, if one unhealed hidden desire to deny reality (deny the truth) hidden in the subconscious mind (desire for the blue pill), the experience of the Matrix (consciousness/pain/suffering) will not be fully transcended. This is perfectly depicted in Matrix Resurrections.

In summary, the depiction of this powerful list of hidden desires is the reason why the Matrix Resurrections Spiritual Awakening Review is 5 Stars:

Hidden subconscious desires that are depicted in Matrix Resurrections:

  • Desire for the experience to “forget” true identity.

  • Desire for the experience that my brother (someone outside of myself) can steal heaven from me.

  • Desire for the experience that something outside myself is the “cause” for the Matrix (ego experience) of suffering and pain.

  • Desire for the experience of creating your own reality.

  • Desire for the experience of forgetting the choice to experience the (ego experience) Matrix of limitation, pain and suffering.

  • Desire for the experience that transcending the Matrix (ego) seems difficult or impossible.

  • Desire for the experience that salvation (peace/freedom/happiness) comes through death.

What are the Signs of Spiritual Awakening?

Many Light Beings on a “awakening journey” would like to know:

  1. Are there Spiritual Awakening stages?
  2. What are signs of Spiritual Awakening? Is there a Spiritual Awakening test? and
  3. What are Spiritual Awakening symptoms?

The ego can make it appear that Spiritual Awakening stages, signs and symptoms vary for each person. However, we will summarize some general principles in this blog, the Guide to Spiritual Awakening Stages, and two supporting video. In addition, there is only one true spiritual awakening test, which we will discuss below.

The video below (Part 1 of 2) refers to a Guide to Spiritual Awakening Stages.

The Guide is an outline of some of the key stages of Spiritual Awakening. Click here to download the Guide. Here is an overview of the guide.

1. The Guide is in table format. The first column heading in the table refers to “Stages” (of awakening).

2. The second column lists spiritual awakening “steps, signs and symbols” for each stage.

3. The third column is a list of  blocks (impediments) at each stage.

3. The fourth column contains remedies for releasing the blocks in order to move on to the next stage.

This blog also describes a Spiritual awakening test, Spiritual awakening signs and how to handle spiritual awakening symptoms in more detail.

One of the most important stages of awakening is the commitment to release hidden desires that deny inner Light. A release of a desire is forgiveness. Forgiveness to release subconscious content is a deep form of shadow work or releasing vasanas or ego tendencies described in some spiritual traditions. Part 1: What are the Spiritual Awakening Stages? Video

Learn to communicate with the Voice for God/Holy Spirit to save time at each stage.

Awakening requires radical self honesty, since the ego is dishonest and delusional. Thus, the most helpful remedy at EVERY step or stage is to learn to communicate with the Voice for God/Holy Spirit/Jesus. The Voice for God is not fooled by tricks of the ego. This is the most helpful guide for moving quickly through each stage. If you ask, this inner Voice will reveal to you whether you are in resistance. It can also tell you how willing you are to accept a new point of view about the world. This new “point of view” is what will lead you to awakening to true reality.

If you want help learning to hear the Voice for God you can join us for the 90 days with Jesus in residence program at the Center, or start with the free 45 days with Jesus program online. Joining is also a powerful means to hear. the Voice.

Awakening is guaranteed because Light is already what you are. It is the denials of Light (Awakening) that make it seem that “stages” are needed. We will cover basic principles that are helpful to transcend stages as quickly as possible.

What is the Spiritual Awakening Test?

the Spiritual awakening test is peace and joy. Desires are avoiding that you are already "it"

First, it is essential to recognize the ultimate state of Enlightenment / Spiritual Awakening. This is the ” Spiritual Awakening Test “.

During the spiritual journey many glimpses of “true reality” (awakening experiences) may occur. However, there is only one ultimate sign of Spiritual Awakening for those devoted to “going all the way” to the full discovery of true nature or Enlightenment.

The ultimate
Spiritual Awakening test is simple.

It is a consistent, uninterrupted
state of peace and joy.

This state is called Choiceless Awareness.

The state of Choiceless Awareness is complete transcendence of the ego thought system. In A Course in Miracles this is called the Happy Dream. Everything else, without exception, is some form of denial of Ultimate Reality.

This is referred to as Abiding Spiritual Awakening, as opposed to “Spiritual Awakening” experiences that are glimpses of ultimate reality that seem to come and go. You could refer to this as full affiliation with Inner Light, the Light that Lights everyone who is born. John 9 of the Bible refers to this Light as the Light that lights everyone who is born.

Some spiritual texts refer to Christ Consciousness. This state refers to an advanced stage of awakening, which is unified consciousness. This is a joyful and peaceful state in the recognition of One and is an expression of full service to the whole. Unification of consciousness is a step along the way to the ultimate state, Choiceless Awareness.

Focus on three things to simply the stages of awakening.

  • First is it powerful to focus on the Perfect Peace that comes naturally from inner Light. Some call this “awareness”.

  • Second, notice when there is an experience of lack of peace. Lack of peace is a signal that there is an investment in the ego thought system, the denial of inner Light. Anything that is not perfect peace is the ego at work. Notice what is not peaceful. This is an opportunity to look deeply and release the subconscious desire to avoid Enlightenment. The Crazy Dream Bubble Diagram Video is a helpful review of how the ego and hidden subconscious desire obscure inner Light.

  • Third, when you are not at peace, this is a call to Join to look deeply! Join quickly to release the hidden desire of the ego to deny enlightenment.

The ego will claim peace is boring or unexciting.
It is helpful to remember that ego considers the natural state of boundless peace and joy the enemy!

“Progress” in Spiritual Awakening is different from the ways of the world.

Progress in the spiritual journey of healing is very different from the ways of the world. This is because there is no measuring stick for the falling away of ego concepts and ideas that make happiness and inner peace seem elusive.

Download the Guide to Spiritual Awakening Stages

Seekers look for signs or stages along the way to answer the question “How do I know if I am progressing?” In grade school there are tests and grades to evaluate “progress”. Spiritual Seekers want to know “How will I know I am moving forward in my Spiritual Journey?” Ask if you are at peace, and this will tell you whether there is more to go on the journey.

One of the most important stages in Spiritual Awakening is opening to question the ego thought system. This is called willingness.

Pains, upsets, twitches, and mind attacks are movements in consciousness and not necessarily negative when they are used for deeper looking and releasing hidden desires. This is the way out of pain and suffering. In A Course in Miracles this release of desires (denial of Light) is called a miracle.

It is extremely valuable to see how the ego uses hidden desires to deny Awakening. This process has also been called “shadow work”. Yet this form of direct looking and releasing desires to deny enlightenment is shadow work on steroids. It quickly gets to the root of denial of Divinity.

This is a powerful means to turn inward and investigate whether what is arising (upsets, pain, etc.) is true. This is a direct look below the upset so that the underlying desire (subconscious content) can be released from the dark corners of the subconscious mind. Release of subconscious content is unification of consciousness, which is a stage in Spiritual Awakening.

Awakening stages can be best described as a series of deep realizations about how consciousness is a play to deny that Enlightenment is already here!

The stage of awakening of being open to see the world in a new way is called Willingness.

The speedup to awakening is quickly “turning in” to look inward and question the ego thought system. The speed of awakening is proportional to the speed of turning inward to see what is true.

In A Course in Miracles Jesus states that you cannot judge your advances from your retreats. This is because the “measurement” or “interpretation”, per se, of the falling away of ideas and concepts about the world is occurring at the same time the ego is screaming and complaining about the untrue falling away!

The ego’s function is to deny Spiritual Awakening and to avoid any activities that will lead to the recognition that the ego does not exist! This makes the journey feel less than straightforward. Upsets frequently arise into awareness during the “journey”. The ego is an upset generating machine.

Therefore, leave no upset unexplored in the Light of truth. Each upset cleared in the Light of Truth is a step toward Spiritual Awakening.

Spiritual Awakening is straightforward IF you follow 3 key principles…

Welcome to the How to Watch Movies for Spiritual Awakening worksheet. It is important to review how the ego denies enlightenment in order to use the worksheet most effectively.

  • First, the ego denies Spiritual Awakening through hidden desires to avoid awakening. Not feeling "enlightened" or "Awake" is synonymous with not being at peace. This disquietude arises  from hidden desires.
  • Second, it is important to understand that the ego is designed to obscure inner Light from awareness. The ego does this by hiding subconscious desires for experiences of pain, suffering and illness below the level of awareness. Desires are denials that Enlightenment is your natural state.
  • Thus, Enlightenment is merely ceasing to deny inner Light by releasing the hidden desires that deny inner Light. Watching Spiritual Awakening Movies can help reveal which hidden desires need to be released to Light. In A Course in Miracles the release of a desire is called a Miracle.
  • All pain, illness and suffering arise out of hidden subconscious desires for objective experiences that deny Inner Light. Thus, releasing desires with Spiritual Awakening movies can help alleviate pain and suffering.
  • In summary, watching movies with Jesus (also called the Voice for God/Holy Spirit) is a simple and direct means for identifying and releasing hidden subconscious desires.
  • Many of the movie reviews on this site list the subconscious desires that deny Enlightenment that can be seen in the movie.  You can find many more desires listed in Chapter 20 of Jesus: A New Covenant ACIM

Watching movies for Spiritual Awakening is a means for learning to tune into the inner Voice that reveals desires to deny Divinity hidden in the subconscious mind.

This inner Voice can help direct you in identifying secret subconscious desires and releasing them to the Light of Truth. In A Course in Miracles this release of a denial of Light is called a miracle.

The inner Voice for truth (Voice for God) within is the Voice of wholeness. This is in contrast to the voice of the ego, which is the voice of fragmentation. In ACIM this voice is called “wrong minded”. The Voice for God speaks of unity and of Love. It is the Voice of the Light that Lights everyone who is born as described in John 9 of the Bible.

In this blog and in the worksheet we refer to this Voice as Jesus because this is one of the most powerful symbols of Enlightenment in consciousness.

Virtually all Spiritual Awakening traditions talk about the necessity of releasing desires. This is purification or shadow work. Learning how to recognize the desires (the "wanting' of an experience of more or less than All that Is) and releasing them is a means out of all pain and suffering.

The general process for identifying and releasing subconscious desires can be found in the Joining in Light Miracle Worksheet. Click here to download.
